Cosmic Call to Supper

Holiday Mathis on

Lucky Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, likes to spend about a year in a sign and takes almost 12 years to make a complete orbit around the sun. Today's sign change from outgoing Gemini to homey Cancer is a bit like a parent calling the children in for a family dinner. It's a call to wash up and nourish ourselves, as well as prioritize domestic life and relationships.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're processing far more than you're aware of. When your conscious mind isn't steering the ship, you can bet there's a good reason. Meanwhile, what do you need? What do you feel? You won't go wrong letting that be your compass.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Because you're paying attention, you'll field glances -- silent messages from strangers and familiars alike. It's particularly thrilling when they let you know just how magnetizing you are. It also helps that you're an expert reader of intent.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Today runs smoothly. Your messages will be received, understood and acted upon. Your wishes will be fulfilled. The connections you attempt will be successful, mind to mind, hand to hand, heart to heart.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Keep taking notes because it helps you pay attention to what matters. Some of the information will be useful today, and the rest will help your future self. The important thing is that you've captured it. Next up, a system of organization.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Growth isn't just about doing more or achieving more. It's about perceiving more, seeing things you couldn't see before, feeling what you used to numb or ignore. By the time your head hits the pillow, you'll know more about yourself and the world.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You won't get another cherry-picked chance as sweet as the one that comes up today. Don't wait until you're hungry to eat it up. If you pause to ponder the options, you might miss it.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Constant self-adjustment is a red flag. If you're always bending, shrinking, adapting or second-guessing yourself just to maintain a relationship, job or situation, the problem may not be you. It may be simply a bad fit.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Today's themes are responsibility and the emotional toll of leadership. You'll be surrounded by people dreaming and scheming up grand visions, but you will not be swept into the hype. You're no buzzkill, but you're a realist who knows the cost.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). What people are asking of you isn't as important as the fact that they are asking you and not someone else. In short: You're needed -- not just your hands, your work, your skills, but your whole self.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You hesitate to fully commit to something unless you feel you can bring something uniquely yours to it -- a perspective, style or energy that sets it apart. Today's cosmic message: assume that you do bring that and just show up.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Desire isn't always about the object of desire -- it's often about the distance. And if there's something besides too much space between you and the object of desire? Watch out. Love plus an obstacle often equals obsession.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Wise advice finds its way to your open mind. You may be told how to do things better, which is never a punishment. Being corrected with love is one of the most underrated gifts you can receive. Mutual respect is key, of course.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (June 9). It's as though chains have been severed. You'll answer the call of a new kind of freedom and soar with a vibrancy that touches every sector of your life and relationships. More highlights: You'll lead, not by effort but by magnetism. Your presence is a currency, your skills a beacon for others to learn from so they may build with you into the future. You'll negotiate like a pro and land contracts that help many. Cancer and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 9, 14, 27, 12 and 6.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In his return to mainstream Hollywood cinema, Johnny Depp will star as Kelly, a mysterious guest aboard a private yacht, in the action thriller "Day Drinker." Other upcoming projects include a biblical comedy directed by Terry Gilliam and a biographical drama directed by Depp about the artist Amedeo Modigliani. The versatile Gemini never ceases to bring something new to his characters. Depp's witty Gemini sun is balanced by a natal landslide of grounded earth-sign energy.
